National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Veterans Crisis Line

  • The Veterans Crisis Line is a free, confidential resource that is available to anyone, even if you are not registered with the VA or enrolled in VA health care. If you are experiencing a crisis or supporting a loved one who is, responders at the Veterans Crisis Line can help.

Georgia Behavioral Health Link Access to Crisis Services

  • For immediate access to routine or crisis services, please call the Georgia Crisis and Access Line (GCAL) at 1-800-715-4225. GCAL is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and 365 days/year to help you or someone you care for in a crisis. 
  • Text & Chat: Georgia’s youth can now access GCAL’s services via text and chat through an app called My GCAL.  Youth can call, text, or chat with GCAL 24/7/365.

American Psychiatric Association

  • The APA offers up-to-date info on mental health disorders including substance use disorder. It defines psychiatry and explains what it takes to become a psychiatrist, what one does and explains the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist. This comprehensive site provides education on various mental health disorders, medications and other treatment modalities. 

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

  • NAMI is the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to helping people affected by mental illnesses, their families and loved ones. NAMI has chapters across the U.S. offering a variety of services, opportunities and support. NAMI educates and advocates for living with mental illness and those who care for them. The website is an excellent resource which contains helpful links with lots of information on mental health.

American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Learn more about issues affecting children, teenagers and their families including fact sheets of various symptoms and mental illnesses, substance use disorders, psychiatric medications and other resources. It explains what a child psychiatrist does and how to locate psychiatrists in your area. 

Child Mind Institute

  • An independent nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children struggling with mental health and learning disorders. Provides excellent information and resources regarding children’s mental health issues.

  • An autism advocacy organization that provides support, information, and resources across the lifespan for people with autism spectrum disorder and their families
